Website or app: which does your business need?
A plain way to decide, and when you need both.
Start with what customers do
If people find you, read about you and contact you, a website does the job. It works on every phone and computer, it shows up on Google, and nobody has to install anything.
If the same people come back every week to book, order, track or log in, an app starts to earn its place. It lives on their home screen, it can send notifications and it remembers them.
Signs a website is enough
Most of your customers visit once or a few times a year. You mainly need to be found, look trustworthy and get calls, bookings or quotes. Your budget is better spent on being found than on app store listings.
Signs you need an app
Customers use you often, like a gym, a clinic with repeat visits or a store with drops. You want notifications, loyalty or saved details. Your team needs a tool to run the day, which is often a private app or dashboard, not a public one.
The usual answer
Start with a fast website that books and sells. Add an app when repeat customers ask for it. Most of the logic can be shared, so the app costs less when you get there.
